Here are 5 things to look out for in determining whether its time to re-set your engagement ring!
1. Is your ring 10+ years old? Think of your engagement ring like you do your handbags and hairstyles. Styles change and your jewelry should reflect that too! If you have a heavy metal and dated-looking engagement ring setting, you may way to consider an upgrade! We know that there is sentimental value to your original engagement ring. We like to suggest keeping your original setting and make it into a 'travel ring.' We will set a CZ in the center so that you can always have your original and be able to wear it when traveling, going to the beach, etc. It's great to have options!
2. Are the prongs, which hold the stone securely in place, catching on your clothing? If your prongs are wearing down or catching on fabric, that is a #1 sign that your ring needs immediate attention. Prongs are responsible for keeping your stone secure and in place. Any sharp edges or feeling need to be addressed. We recommend not wearing your ring until you can bring it in to determine the best options for repair or resetting.
3. Is the bottom of the ring thinning out? While gold has great strength for setting diamonds, it also can stretch and thin out over time. If your ring is thinning out in the back, it could be the perfect opportunity to update the setting while also making necessary changes to secure the diamond on your finger.
4.. Do you want to stack your wedding band flush against your engagement ring, but can't? The stacking ring style is a timeless and purposeful look, but is easily achievable with the right engagement ring setting. In order to stack your wedding band flush against your engagement ring, the stone must be set to allow room for the band to slide underneath. This is the look that everyone is asking us for.
5.Â ï»żDoes it still fit your finger? This could be an ideal opportunity to reset your ring. Do not force your ring on your finger - you should be able to take your ring on and off daily because as we all know, you should never sleep in your jewelry! If your ring doesn't fit, let's reset!
